The Professional Side
Originally from Houston, Texas, Dr. Grant Marcantel discovered his passion for dentistry at just 13 years old. He spent his teenage years shadowing a local dentist and learning every part of how a dental practice works—from patient check-in to clinical care.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Texas A&M University in 2013 and then worked at the solar energy company Sunnova during his gap years. Dr. Grant went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston in 2020. His areas of clinical interest include: restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns, and bridges), cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, including wisdom teeth removal, All-on-X implants, sedation dentistry,
He has recently expanded his surgical training and discovered a genuine passion for helping patients through procedures that once caused them anxiety. Because he personally understands what it feels like to be nervous at the doctor, he prioritizes patient comfort above all else.
In dental school, he built a long-standing friendship with Dr. Myrick and met his now-wife, Dr. Esmeralda Marcantel—connections that eventually brought him to the Gulf Coast to join the Hammock Bay Family dental team. Since relocating to Northwest Florida, he has embraced the slower pace, the friendly community, and—of course—the beautiful beaches.
The Personal Side
When he’s not caring for patients, Dr. Grant enjoys exploring Northwest Florida with his family. He is proudly surrounded by “one daughter, one wife, and one mother-in-law”—all living under one happy roof.
Outside the office, you’ll find him:
- Running errands (his form of peaceful downtime)
- Reading (one dental book a year—after that, anything goes!)
- People-watching at airports
- Learning new things and discovering new conversations
- Staying active on Twitter, where he enjoys engaging with all kinds of ideas
Dr. Grant feels truly at home in Walton County. He loves serving the hardworking families of Freeport, DeFuniak Springs, and surrounding areas—people he calls “the homegrown folks who keep our communities strong.” Contributing to their oral health and overall well-being is one of the most meaningful parts of his work.
